Math Games to Grow Your Brain

Making Math Fun!

Math can often be seen as a hard, boring skill that you learn through worksheets and the memorization of facts. But really, math can be so much more!

When you allow children to 'play' with their math, it increases their enjoyment, their comfort, and their confidence for math. They play without realizing they are learning. When they turn around and do 'real math' activities in class, they will be surprised to see how much they already know.

The best part about math games is that they can be created out of the simplest items. My classroom is stocked with games, almost all of which can be played with dice, dominoes or a deck of cards!

CURRICULUM CONNECTIONS

Each of the games listed on this site connect with the objectives and expectations with the current Ontario curiculum. The focus right now is on number sense - understanding the quantity and 'muchness' of a number.
